Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades kicked off our 50th Anniversary by celebrating Mass with us, reminding all in attendance to “honor and support with great affection our elderly brothers and sisters.” Naming our chapel The Oratory of Saints Joachim and Anne, Bishop Rhoades also commissioned us to commemorate the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Saint Anne (pictured on the left) has been visually represented in our chapel for many years. The Bishop’s challenge to include a statue to help us keep Saint Joachim in mind initially proved more difficult to satisfy. Eager to fulfill Bishop Rhoades’ request, we reached out to a local artist that could enable our veneration vision to become a reality.
Through the skillful hands of a talented artist, and gifts of generous donors, we are excited to announce that we met the monetary goal to get Saint Joachim in place (pictured on the right). We look forward to celebrating daily Mass, Jesus’ birth, and Resurrection for many years to come with statues of both of His grandparents smiling down on us.
When you stop by for a visit, sneak a peek at the recent upgrades in The Oratory of Saints Joachim and Anne. As always, please feel free to join us for Mass – daily at 10:30am and Sundays at 8:30am and 10:30am. You are always welcome here.
